Summary
Painted plaster, Joseph Addison (1672-1719) (possibly after John Michael Rysbrack), possibly by John Cheere (1709 – London 1787). A plaster portrait bust of Addison, possibly after Rysbrack, bare head turned to left, wearing open shirt and drapery, on panelled socle. See Rysbrack's bust of Bolingbroke (1837) at Petworth.

Acquired by Henry II Hoare (1705-1785) and thence by descent; given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of the contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946
