Summary
Painting, watercolour and bodycolour and ink on paper, armorial bearings of the Stanter of Horningsham family, early 19th century. The painting on front shows three shovelers and a chevron (white/black) on an escutcheon, on the reverse, handwritten, Stanter of Horningham (sic). Arms. Sable a Cheveron Ermine between three Shovelers Argent a Bordure engrailed of the Second.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust along with Stourhead House, its grounds, and the rest of the contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
