Summary
Painting, watercolour and bodycolour and ink on paper, armorial bearings of the Zouche family, early 19th century. The painting on front shows ten bezants (gold/red), ermine, cheverons and two lions on an escutcheon, on the reverse, handwritten, Zouche. Arms, Gules ten bezants 4,3,2 and 1 a Canton Ermine Impaling Quarterly 1st and 4th Argent two Cheverons Gules for St Maur 2nd and 3rd Or a Lion rampant Azure, for Duvel.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust along with Stourhead House, its grounds, and the rest of the contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
