Summary
Sand painting on board, Draught Horses in a Barn, in the manner of Benjamin Zobel (1762 - 1831), circa 1780-1831. A sand painting ('marmotinto') of two harnessed draught horses, a grey and a chestnut, facing left in a timbered barn. In a giltwood frame with a beaded outer border and leaf-and-tongue inner border.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust along with Stourhead House, its grounds, and the rest of the contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
