Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on velum on card, Possibly Sir Walter Raleigh (1552?-1618) by a follower of Nicholas Hilliard (Exeter c.1547 – London 1619). Oval. c.1585. Head and shoulders portrait of a man, turned slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator, wearing a striped black and gold doublet, gold buttons, close fitting ruff. Light brown eyes, brown hair and pointed beard, aged about 25. Plain grey background. Much damaged and worn round the edges
