Summary
Two inkwells, silver-capped glass, from an inkstand, sterling silver, comprising an oval inkstand fitted with two silver-capped glass inkwells, I. S. Greenberg & Co. (Israel Sigmund Greenberg), hallmarked Birmingham, 1908. Engraved with the head of an eagle and the inscription 'Presented to H.C.A. Hoare Esq on his 21st Birthday by the Cottagers of Stourton with Gasper and Kilmington.
Provenance
Presented to Henry Colt Arthur Hoare (1888-1917) by the Cottagers of Stourton with Gasper and Kilmington on his 21st Birthday, 30 July 1909. Bequeathed to the National Trust along with Stourhead House, its grounds, and the rest of the contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
