Summary
Table clock. Quarter chiming, 8 day, table clock, signed by Ellicott with movement made by Thwaites and Reed, 1824. 5 pillar movement with anchor escapement, substantial plates with shaped top corners and chain fusees. Quarter chiming on 8 bells and hour striking on a single bell with pull repeat. Plain backplate with outer edge engraved. Plain white arched dial with Roman hour numerals and a minute track. “Ellicott, Royal Exchange, LONDON” signed in the dial centre, steel open pointer Brequet hands. Strike/silent dial in the arch. Mahogany veneered case with brass inlays, low arched top with single pineapple finial. Brass fish scale sound frets to each side, with circular carrying handles, ebonised moulding on base below door, standing on brass ball feet.
