Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on vellum, Dorothy North, Lady Dacre, later Mrs Chaloner Chute (c.1605 – 1698) by David des Granges (London 1611 – after 1670). Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a woman, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, wearing a white dress, half-covered by a black diaphanous scarf, with pearl necklace and earrings. Brown eyes, pale (faded) complexion, brown hair dressed with pearls. Plain light brown background. Signed with initials. (One of nine family miniatures in a mahogany case NT/VYN/F/31.)
