Summary
Pencil and charcoal, Portrait of a young woman, attributed to Joseph Mathias Negelen (1791-1870), 19th century. A three-quarter length portrait drawing of a woman, with proper left elbow resting on a balustrade, turned slightly towards right. The sitter wears a sloped shoulder gown with puffed sleeves and sheer oversleeves and a wide belt at about the waist, her hair dressed in ringlets and pinned back, with a centre parting. Her fashion is typical of the 1830s. In a in a red morocco case with gilt slip frame.

Pennyman collection devised in October 1961 to The National Trust under the terms of Col. J.B.W. Pennyman's will.
