Summary

A black rubber gas mask. At the front of the gas mask is a circular, black metal filter pierced with small circular holes. Behind the holes is a metal mesh and behind this a white gauze. Above the date the following appears in embossed lettering in rubber 'AVON 2-38'. Above this is an oval transparent plastic window enabling the wearer to see out with the word ‘LARGE’ in embossed rubber lettering. The gas mask is held in place with three adjustable black cotton tape straps which all fit through interlocking metal buckles.
