Summary
An child's white cotton bonnet (circa 1830 to circa 1860) with an Ayrshire style crown. Framing the face are four frills, each edged with lace. The base of the first three frills seems to be reinforced with piping. The back of the bonnet is plain, torn inplaces, hole sin places and darned. Where the front frills are attached there is reinforcing piping cord. Around the back of the neck is a frill with a lace edgeing. The back of the bonnet closes with two long fabric ties. One of them has the remains of some lace.
