Terracotta, Night, probably Ipsen Factory, Copenhagen, after Bertel Thorvaldsen (Copenhagen 1770-1844), c. 1875-1899. One of a pair of relief roundels depicting Day and Night personified, after the models by Bertel Thorvaldsen (Thorvaldsens Museum, Copenhagen, inv.nos. A901 and A902).
Provenance
Vernon collection transferred to the Treasury in 1967 following death of 9th Lord Vernon, and transferred to The National Trust in 1967.
