Summary
Sculpture, white marble bust, Augustus Henry Vernon, 6th Baron Vernon (1829-1883) by Alfred Gatley (Bollington 1816 – Rome 1863). On a smooth cylindrical pillar of red speckled marble veneer. Facing slightly left, bare shoulders with classical drapery. Inscribed on front 'AUGUSTUS HENRY, BARON VERNON, B.1829, D.1883.'. Inscribed on rear 'A. GATLEY SCULP. LONDON A.D. 1850'.
Provenance
Vernon collection transferred to the Treasury in 1967 following death of 9th Lord Vernon, and transferred to The National Trust in 1967.
