Summary

Hanging-clock in ebonised case with gold line at edges; circular dial in silk painted surround foliage in gold; above the dial a shaped pediment with a raised door at centre on which is painted bird; the clock has two separate chains with a cylindrical brass weight on each, as well as a brass pendulum. Early c.20th.

Lit. 'B. Potter's Americans' p.179, letter of 6 April 194 to Bertha Mahony Miller, on 'Wag-by-the-Wall' clocks, 'It is pleasing to see the pendulum swing solemnly 'en plain air'.'
