Summary
A panelled wooden box for transporting eggs; with zinc-bound uprights and a strap-and-staple-hinged and hasped lid with carrying handle and fitted trays, the panelled sides of ply, a pink label on the inner face of the lid, ‘SAFETY EGG BOXES’ the hasp with a rotating lock keep on the front face of the box

in black letters stamped on each front, ’EGGS’ and on the lid and reverse, ‘PATENTEES & MANUFACTURERS/ The DAIRY OUTFIT Co. LTD/ KINGS CROSS, LONDON N.1/ AWARDED FIRST PRIZES & MEDALS/FOR SAFETY EGG BOXES’, on reverse also ‘POCOCK’S PATENT’ and on each side, ‘6 DOZ’…on a pink paper label inside the lid, printed in black, ‘PACK EGGS SMALL END DOWNWARDS/ SAFETY EGG BOXES/ THE “POCOCK” PATENT/ FELT LINED EGG BOX/ “LIGHTWEIGHT” PATTERN/ made of 3-ply hard wood/ THE “CUSHION” PATENT/ EGG BOX/ THE “STANDARD”/ LIGHTWEIGHT EGG BOX/ INEXPENSIVE SAFETY BOX/ made of 3-ply wood/ THE “HAMMOCK”/ PARCELS POST EGG BOX (Felt lined)’ with illustrations etc. the inside face of the lid also stamped in black ‘6761’.
