A carved oak plaque depicting a lion at rest in the mouth of a cave with two shields, one with fleur de lys lying under his paw and head and the other with the red cross of Switzerland propped against the side of the cave; with an inscription.

Marks and inscriptions
On the face, carved; ‘HELVETIORUM FIDELAC VIRTUTI/ DIE X AUGUSTI. ET 111 SEPTEMBRIS MDCCXCH’ and on a paper label on the reverse, partially destroyed, printed red on white; ‘GEBRUD SCHLAGETER/ Kornmarkt/ LUZERN’
