Summary
A detached cover for a small baluster pewter cauldron; the cauldron, with spreading foot and a swing handle, the cover of depressed dome form with a cast acorn handle attached on one side. Stamped on the base, twice within a circle- 'MANTE 1691' around reversed 'F's under a crown and a staff and vine with the motto in two scrolls over- 'DE.LA.VIGNE/ETIN.FIN'.
Provenance
1944, gifted to the National Trust by Field Marshal Sir Archibald and Lady Montgomery Massingberd.
