Summary
Print, mezzotint, John Leslie, 10th Earl of Rothes (1698-1767) (after Sir Joshua Reynolds PRA) by James McArdell (Dublin c.1729 – London 1765). The Earl three-quarter length, facing left in uniform with Order of the Thistle. His right hand resting on pommel of sword. A battle proceeding in the background. Inscribed with the Earl's titles and recording the fact that he was commander-in-Chief of His Majesty's forces in Ireland. This engraving is taken from the companion portrait to GUN/P/8. John,10th Earl of Rothes, married Mary Lloyd as his second wife in 1763. He died in 1767 and she afterwards married Bennet Langton of Langton. (see label on back of frame)
