Summary
A pen and ink line drawing by Peregrine Langton of the Grand staircase of Chateau de Bouith nr. Bordeaux. Grand perspective of columned staircase rising in two flights up through the ashlared hall. Figures seated at top landing including a mastif(?). The artistn in near foreground centre depicted with tools of his trade as from above engaged in the task of composition. A topographical drawing of a country house, akin to Castle Howard, sits on a chair to right. Ebonised gilt frame. Inscribed on mount 'Grand Staircase at Chateaux Bouith,Bordeaux'.

1944, gifted to the National Trust by Field Marshal Sir Archibald and Lady Montgomery Massingberd.
