Watercolour drawing by J Burrell Smith after a sketch by Charles Langton Massingberd of a ruined castle.Watercolour,according to a label on reverse which is partially destroyed,is of a scene from 'The Bride of Lammermoor' by Sir walter Scott. A ruined arch with castellations above on a rocky eminence over the sea with a lone female figure standing before the arch centrally. a gibbet below to left,seagulls circling the stormy sky. Giltwood frame.
