Summary
Portrait miniature, Henry Massingberd (d.1817) in the manner of Gervase Spencer (c.1715 – London 1763). Painting of the mid 18th century school. Miniature painting on ivory of Henry Massingberd,with powdered hair and in a red coat by an unknown artist. Ebonised rectangular frame. Henry Massingberd,son of Thomas Meux Massinberd,died c.1787 at St Omer having let Gunby. He was suceeded by his daughter,Elizabeth,who married Peregrine Langton.
Provenance
1944, gifted to the National Trust by Field Marshal Sir Archibald and Lady Montgomery Massingberd.
