Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Lady Elizabeth Anne Cole, Lady Magenis (1769-1807), British (English) School, c.1900. Oval. Half-length portrait of a young woman, turned to the left, left profile, in a white dress, purpose shawl. Dark eye, light brown hair up, with one lock descending to her right shoulder, aged about 20. Sky background. This portrait has a late 19th century look and may be a copy, perhaps by Beatrice Wainwright, of a full-size Hopperish picture of the 1790s, or even a pure invention. Lady Elizabeth Cole (1769-1807) was the 2nd daughter of William Willoughby Cole, 1st Earl of Enniskillen (1736-1803) and Anne Lowry-Corry (1742-1802); married Colonel Richard Magenis.
