Brown cotton sleeping bag marked MEUM ('mine' in Latin); was Lawrence's sleeping bag.
Provenance
'As regards bedding', wrote T.E.L. to his brother Arnold, 'there are two sleeping bags (of 3 and 2 blankets, respectively) and about four loose blankets, one eiderdown and, I think, two sheets.' These two simple sleeping bags where made for him in the 1930's, and into which Lawrence himself had stitched 'MEUM' and 'TUUM' ('mine' and 'thine') the former for himself and the latter for his guests.
