Summary
Gouache on paper, Mary Agnes Elton, Lady Elton (1844-1926) by Emmeline Deane (fl.1879-1934), signed and dated 1891. A half-lnegth portrait of the daughter of Sir Arthur Hallam Elton, 7th Bt MP (1818-1883) and his first wife Rhoda Susan Willis (1809-1873); married Sir Edmund Harry Elton, 8th Bt (1846-1920), a mature woman gazing at the spectator, in a (?) fur hat, wearing a red dress beneath a blue coat with brown fur collar. She has a small gold chain with a gold cross around her neck and some (?) red flowers attached to the lapel of her coat.
