Summary
A French mechanical doll, made by Theroude & Cie, Paris, c. 1870. A mechanical doll representing a child, with a moulded and painted papier mâché head, a painted head pate, wearing a cream silk day dress with a high lace collar, fine red diagonal striping on the bodice, puffed long sleeves, and red horizontal striping above the hem. The doll stands on a tinplate base with front wheel, reverse stamped Theroude & Cie, Paris, on an ebonised circular base, under glass dome.
