Summary
Coat of arms of the Willis Nott marriage, 1827. Captain William Alexander Willis (1799-1862) married Mary Anne Nott (1803-1875). LT no.47. Inscription on reverse /Arms of Willis, per fesse, goles, argent, three lions rampant, counterchanged within bordeur ermine/ crest two lions' gambs erased the dexter goules, the sinister argent/ supporting an escutcheon or, gold/ The arms of Nott, azure, on a bend between three leopard's faces, or, as many martlets goles and crest, a, martlet argent, ducally crowned or, holding in beak an olive branch there (arms and crest granted 1587) / For Hampton Court Palace, should be hung with the Nott protraits there as a record of the connection between the Willis and Nott families. Compre the Nott coat with that shown below the engraving of Sir Thomas Nott, the father of Mistress Susan Nott/
