Summary
A circular marble timepiece or sundial Charles Nephew andCo. of Calcutta. White marble base on painted black stand, incised with a type of clock face above which is placed a movable magnifying glass and a small brass cannon. The sun canon as it was called had gun powder placed stratigically beneath the magnifying glass and when the sun moved around at a certain time of day it made a small pop!
