Summary
Edith Teresa Hulton in the centre of a crowd, leaning against a rope barrier, watching the Divisional Horse Show in Trissino. There are officers and men surrounding her. In the foreground of the photograph, to either side, are blurred outlines of figures in uniform. Trissino is a commune to the north west of Venice in the area where Edith Teresa was based during the First World War. Although the day in August is not identified here, these photographs are part of a series taken on 10 August 1918 which is located at the end of Album Zona di Guerra May 1916 – Aug 1918 (CMS 610241). Photograph number 1 on page 1. This is the first photograph on the left of three placed side by side centrally on page 1 of Edith Teresa Hulton’s (later Lady Berwick) Personal Album August 1918 – January 1919. Edith Teresa Hulton (1890-1972), later Lady Berwick, worked as a Red Cross volunteer in a variety of locations in north-east Italy in the Italian war zone during World War I. She married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30th June 1919 in Venice, Italy.
