Summary
A monochrome photograph showing two unknown children, presumably in Cervignano, Italy. They are seated at a table in front of a stone archway. They are dressed in working clothing: the girl wears an apron and a head scarf; the boy is wearing a jumper and a cap. Strung across the archway, there is a line of washing. Photograph Number 6 of 7 photographs, on Page 6 of Edith Teresa Hulton's Small Snapshot Album of Cervignano May - July 1916 (CMS Number 610240.1). Edith Teresa Hulton (1890-1972), later Lady Berwick, worked as a Red Cross volunteer in a variety of locations, including Cervignano in the province of Friuli in north east Italy where she worked in the soldiers’ canteen, in the Italian war zone during World War I. She married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30th June 1919 in Venice, Italy.
