Summary
A monochrome photograph showing Edith Teresa Hulton standing on a railway platform beside a troop train. She is wearing a light coloured dress covered by a long apron, sleeve covers and a Red Cross armband on her left arm. She is wearing a straw sunhat. A soldier is pouring something into a mug that Teresa is holding in her left hand. Two soldiers are standing on the step of the train holding mugs and biscuits. On the top right hand corner of the album page, written in ink are the words “S. Giovanni di Manzano” followed on the line below with “Ott. Nov. 1915 e Dic.” Photograph No. 3 of 20 photographs, on Page 3 of Edith Teresa Hulton’s Personal Album: Zona di Guerra October 1915 – May 1916 (see CMS Number 610239.1). Edith Teresa Hulton (1890-1972), later Lady Berwick, worked as a Red Cross volunteer in a variety of locations in the Italian war zone during World War I. She married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30th June 1919 in Venice, Italy.
