Summary
A monochrome photograph showing Edith Teresa Hulton and Mabel Campbell next to a troop train. They are wearing light coloured dresses covered by long aprons and sleeve covers. Both wear straw sunhats. Teresa is carrying a mug. The two ladies are standing close together and looking down at something on the floor between them. Between them and to the rear stands a soldier in uniform also looking down towards the same place. Behind the left shoulder of Mabel Campbell, a soldier with a bandaged head can be seen. There is no specific date written on this album page but the photograph is in a series dated Oct, Nov, Dec 1915 Photograph Number 2 of 20 photographs, on Page 2 in Edith Teresa Hulton’s Personal Album: Zona di Guerra October 1915 – May 1916 (see CMS Number 610239.1). Edith Teresa Hulton (1890-1972), later Lady Berwick, worked as a Red Cross volunteer in a variety of locations in the Italian war zone during World War I. She married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30th June 1919 in Venice, Italy.
