Summary
A monochrome photograph showing the gable end of a small, wooden, single storied hut with one window and other buildings in the background. Edith Teresa Hulton is seen, walking away from the camera in front of the building. She is wearing a dark, winter suit with a fox fur tippet draped around her neck and a straw hat. Ditto marks in ink are written below the photograph implying it is the “Posto di Ristoro S. Giov. Manzano” (or Soldiers' Canteen) as detailed in a previous photograph (CMS No. 610239.11) . Undated but assumed to be late 1915 due to its sequential position in the album. Photograph Number 10 of 20 photographs, on Page 10 of Edith Teresa Hulton’s Personal Album: Zona di Guerra October 1915 – May 1916 (see CMS Number 610239.1). Edith Teresa Hulton (1890-1972), later Lady Berwick, worked as a Red Cross volunteer in a variety of locations in the Italian war zone during World War I. She married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30th June 1919 in Venice, Italy.
