Summary
A monochrome photograph showing a small, wooden, single storied hut with metal chimney, two windows and lean-to. Over the door are some flags including the Union Jack flag. It is a soldiers’ canteen at San Giovanni di Manzano, Italy. Undated but assumed to be late 1915 due to its sequential position in the album. Photograph 8 of 20 photographs, on Page 8 of Edith Teresa Hulton’s Personal Album: Zona di Guerra October 1915 – May 1916 (see CMS Number 610239.1). Edith Teresa Hulton (1890-1972), later Lady Berwick, worked as a Red Cross volunteer in a variety of locations in the Italian war zone during World War I. She married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30th June 1919 in Venice, Italy.
