Summary
A small photograph album whose covers are of cardboard covered with a stencilled floral paper in reds and greens on a cream background. It is tied with a red ribbon and contains 22 pages some of which are blank. The album contains one newspaper cutting and twenty monochrome photographs which are mostly annotated in ink and appear to be in Edith Teresa Hulton’s hand. On the front cover a decorative, printed label has been attached. There is a decorative design printed on it with a central space on which has been written “Ottobre1915” with “Maggio 1916” below. The word “Zona” is written above the design and the words “di Guerra” below. Above the label, directly onto the album, is written “1915” in ink. Edith Teresa Hulton (1890-1972), later Lady Berwick, worked as a Red Cross volunteer in a variety of locations in the Italian war zone during World War I. She married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30th June 1919 in Venice, Italy.
