Summary
Monochrome photograph showing the garden of 29 Viale Regina Vittoria, Florence, the Villari family home in 1920. The picture shows five ladies sitting around a cast iron garden table set for tea. A very tall cake-stand stands in front of the table. This villa was the home of the grandparents of Edith Teresa Hulton, later Lady Berwick. Teresa’s family moved here during the war after their Venice home was bombed. The second lady from the right appears to be Costanza Mazini, Mrs William Stokes Hulton (1863–1939) (nickname Zina), the mother of Edith Teresa, Lady Berwick (1890-1972). In the centre of the page under this photograph “Florence 1920” is written in pencil. Photograph Number 49 of 232, on Page 16 in Volume 4 of Edith Teresa Hulton's Personal Photograph Albums 1919 - 1926 (CMS item number 610190.1). Teresa is Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972). She married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick on 30th June 1919 in Venice, Italy.
Provenance
8th Lady Berwick collection; bequeathed to the National Trust by Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972).
