Summary
A monochrome photograph of Gioconda Hulton standing on the steps at the entrance to a building. She is wearing a wide-brimmed hat, a light-coloured blouse and a dark skirt. The shutters on a window can be seen at the left of the photo and in the foreground there are various plants. Written in pencil below photograph: 'Done by Gino Florence Easter 1909'. Photograph 37 of 227 contained in Volume 3 of Costanza Hulton’s personal photograph albums (1906 - 1919). Gioconda Mary Hulton was the elder sister of Edith Teresa Hulton, later Lady Berwick (1890-1972). This photograph was taken by Luigi Villari (1876-1959) who was the son of Linda Villari (née White) and Pasquale Villari and the step-uncle of Gioconda and Edith Teresa Hulton. He was familiarly known as 'Gino'. This photograph was taken in the Italian city of Florence, where the Villaris had their home and Teresa Hulton’s mother Costanza grew up.
