Summary
A full-length monochrome photograph of Gioconda Hulton. She is standing in a field or park area and is holding a small black dog in her arms. Written in pencil below photograph: 'Gio Tarvis 1908'. Photograph 35 of 227 contained in Volume 3 of Costanza Hulton’s personal photograph albums (1906 - 1919). Gioconda was the sister of Edith Teresa Hulton, later Lady Berwick (1890-1972). The dog in this photograph is Tenace (Ten for short), a farewell present to Edith Teresa Hulton from Mr. George Eustis when he returned to the US to marry. This photograph was taken in the then Austro-Hungarian town of Tarvis, in the province of Udine, close to the borders with Austria and Slovenia. Ceded to Italy in 1918, its official name is now Tarvisio. See also National Trust Inventory Numbers 610177.34 and 610177.35.
