Summary
A monochrome photograph of Edith Teresa Hulton sitting with three friends in an ornately draped tombola booth. To the right of the group, two further people are visible sitting on a step. Written in pencil below photograph: 'Fiera di Beneficenza Giardinetto Maggio 9-10-11 1908' and 'Bim, Margherita Brandolini, Dada Albrizzi, Giorgio Viola'. Photograph 30 of 227 contained in Volume 3 of Costanza Hulton’s personal photograph albums (1906 - 1919). Edith Teresa Hulton became Lady Berwick when she married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30 June 1919. 'Bim' is short for Bimbele, the family nickname for Edith Teresa Hulton. The inscription refers to a charity fête in the Giardinetto, a public park in Venice, held on 9, 10, 11 May 1908. 'Maggio' translates from the Italian as May. Edith Teresa described her experiences at the fête in her diary, Shropshire Archives 112/22/8/1/4.
