Summary
A monochrome photograph of Gioconda Mary Hulton (1887-1940). She is standing in front of an ornate door and is holding her right hand out towards the door. She is wearing a dark-coloured outfit with a fur stole and is holding a fur muff in her left hand. Written in pencil below photograph: 'Gio Feb 1908 done by Augusto'. Photograph 29 of 227 contained in Volume 3 of Costanza Hulton’s personal photograph albums (1906 - 1919). Gioconda Mary Hulton was the elder sister of Edith Teresa Hulton, later Lady Berwick (1890-1972). ‘Augusto’ was one of the Hultons’ house servants, so it’s reasonable to assume that this was taken in Venice. See also National Trust Inventory Number 610177.29.
Provenance
8th Lady Berwick collection; bequeathed to the National Trust by Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972).
