Summary
A monochrome photograph of Gioconda Mary Hulton (1887-1940). She is standing next to a painting on an easel and is wearing a dark hat and skirt and is holding a muff. Other pictures can be seen behind her and a chair is visible at the front left of the photo. Written in pencil below photograph: 'Gio Feb 1908 done by Augusto'. Photograph 28 of 227 contained in Volume 3 of Costanza Hulton’s personal photograph albums (1906 - 1919). ‘Augusto’ was one of the Hultons’ house servants, so it’s reasonable to assume that this was taken in Venice. Gioconda Mary Hulton was the elder sister of Edith Teresa Hulton, later Lady Berwick (1890-1972). See also National Trust Inventory Number 610177.30.
Provenance
8th Lady Berwick collection; bequeathed to the National Trust by Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972).
