Edith Teresa Hulton is sitting in the centre of the boat while two men are standing on either side of her steering the boat and holding oars. Small buildings are visible behind the gondola on the shoreline. Written in pencil above photograph: 'March 1908 by Gio' and below photograph: 'Carlo Brandolini, Bim, Deola'. Photograph 25 of 227 contained in Volume 3 of Costanza Hulton’s personal photograph albums (1906 - 1919). ‘Bim’ is the family nickname of Edith Teresa Hulton, who became Lady Berwick when she married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30 June 1919. Edith Teresa Hulton’s diary for 8 March 1908 has “This morning church. I almost went to sleep in the sermon. After lunch we and mother went out with dear boys again. Carlo and Deola in a sandolo, the other two in the topo. We went to Santa Rosa, no sails this time, and had a picnic on the grass.” (Shropshire Archives 112/22/8/1/4) This photograph was taken by Gioconda Hulton, Edith Teresa Hulton's sister.
