Summary
A monochrome photograph of Gioconda Hulton and her sister Edith Teresa Hulton sitting in a gondola (barca) and both looking to their left. Behind them, the gondolier can be seen standing in the rear of the boat and in the background some buildings and the masts of other boats are visible. Written in pencil below photograph: 'Gio & Bim in Eustis barca - March 1908'. Photograph 22 of 227 contained in Volume 3 of Costanza Hulton’s personal photograph albums (1906 - 1919). Gioconda and Edith Teresa Hulton were the daughters of William Stokes Hulton (1852-1921) and Costanza Hulton (1863-1939, née Mazini). 'Bim' is short for Bimbele, the family nickname for Edith Teresa Hulton. She became Lady Berwick when she married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30 June 1919. 'Eustis' is George Eustis, an American who Teresa Hulton once thought of marrying. See also National Trust Inventory Numbers 610177.22 and 610177.24 - 610177.27.
Provenance
