Summary
Faded monochrome photograph of five people sitting in the open air, some of whom are reading newspapers. The photograph includes William Stokes Hulton (1852-1921) at top left, his wife Costanza (‘Zina’) Hulton (1863-1939, née Mazini) in the centre and their elder daughter Gioconda Hulton at the bottom right. Next to William Hulton is Horatio Brown and Constance Houison Craufurd. Written in pencil to the right of photograph: 'Horatio – Consy - ourselves' and below photograph: 'Cavazuccherina Oct 1907 by Bim'. Photograph 20 of 227 contained in Volume 3 of Costanza Hulton’s personal photograph albums (1906 - 1919). This photograph was taken by Teresa Hulton (1890-1972), the younger daughter of William and Costanza Hulton, who became Lady Berwick when she married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30 June 1919. 'Bim' is short for Bimbele, the family nickname for Teresa. 'Horatio' is Horatio Forbes Brown. 'Consy' is Constance Houison Craufurd. This photograph was taken at Cavazuccherina, a town to the north of Venice, re-named in 1930 as Jesolo, its old name.
