Summary
A monochrome photograph of a group of 15 people sitting and standing in the open air with hills and trees visible in the background. The photograph includes Costanza Hulton (1863-1939, née Mazini), her husband William Stokes Hulton (1852-1921) and their daughters Edith Teresa Hulton (1890-1972) and Gioconda Mary Hulton (1887-1940). Costanza's mother Linda Villari (née White) is also in the photograph. Written in pencil below photograph: 'Our 4 selves, Nonna, Css Albertoni and 2 sons, Bss Berlepsch, Frau v[on] Trenkwald, Teresita Fedrigotti, Hugh Campbell, Gunning Campbell, Miss Kinsella and Miss Cohen – Waldheim, Bruneck – Aug 1907 – by Gino'. Photograph 18 of 227 contained in Volume 3 of Costanza Hulton’s personal photograph albums (1906 - 1919). Edith Teresa Hulton became Lady Berwick when she married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30 June 1919. 'Nonna' is the Italian for grandmother, here a reference to Linda Villari. This photograph was taken by Luigi Villari (1876-1959), the son of Linda and Pasquale Villari and the stepbrother of Costanza Hulton. He was familiarly known as 'Gino'. This photograph was taken in Bruneck, then a town in the Puster Valley in the Austrian province of South Tyrol. Since World War I the province has been part of Italy, and the Italian name for the town is Brunico. See also National Trust Inventory Numbers 610177.16 - 610177.18 and 610177.20.
