Summary
A monochrome photograph of four people, two males and two females, standing in a garden, outside a loggia. William Stokes Hulton (1852-1921) is standing to the left of the group with his younger daughter Edith Teresa Hulton at the right. In the centre are John Humphreys Johnstone and his wife Anne. Written in pencil below photograph: 'Mr & Mrs Johnston, Willy & Bim by Mrs Hatton July 07'. Photograph 12 of 227 contained in Volume 3 of Costanza Hulton’s personal photograph albums (1906 - 1919). 'Bim' is short for Bimbele, the family nickname for Edith Teresa Hulton. She became Lady Berwick when she married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30 June 1919. The Johnstones lived at the Palazzo Contarini in Venice. The photographer was Enid Hatton, an old friend of the Hultons. See also National Trust Inventory Numbers 610177.10 and 610177.12.
