Summary
Faded monochrome photograph of William Stokes Hulton sitting in a sandolo. He is wearing a hat and suit and is holding a cane. The legs and torso of the oarsman can be seen behind him. Written in pencil below photograph: 'Willy by Bim July 1907'. Photograph 10 of 227 contained in Volume 3 of Costanza Hulton’s personal photograph albums (1906 - 1919). A sandolo is propelled in the same way as a gondola, in this case by a man at the back, wielding a long oar. William Stokes Hulton was the father of Edith Teresa Hulton, who took this photograph. She became Lady Berwick when she married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30 June 1919. 'Bim' is short for Bimbele the family nickname for Edith Teresa Hulton. See also National Trust Inventory Number 610177.8.
