Summary
A monochrome photograph of a group of five people (three males and two females) sitting on a pile of logs. There are trees and mountains in the background. Written in ink underneath the photograph: 'Charlie, Alyne, Zina, Willy, Nonno, "waiting"' and 'the same'. Photograph 47 of 134 contained in Volume 2 of Costanza Hulton's personal photograph albums (1901 - 1906). Included in the photo from left to right are: Charles Edward Hulton (1881-1954) son of William Hulton’s elder brother Jessop; Harriet Alyne Austin (1851-1923, née Hulton); Costanza (Zina) Hulton (1863-1939, née Mazini) and her husband William Stokes Hulton (1852-1921), the parents of Edith Teresa Hulton, later Lady Berwick (1890-1972); “Nonno”, i.e. Edith Teresa’s grandfather, Costanza’s step-father Pasquale Villari (c.1827-1917), a Florentine academic and senator. 'the same' is a reference to written details of the photographer under another photograph - see National Trust Inventory Number 610168.37. The photograph was taken by Richard Freer Austin, the husband of Harriet Alyne Austin, in Mittenwald, Bavaria.
