Summary
A monochrome photograph of a small dog sitting on top of a pillar. In the background of the photo is a field and a settlement, presumably part of Mittenwald. Written in ink underneath the photograph: 'St Simeon Stylites', a jocular reference to the 5th-century hermit who lived for many years atop a pillar. Photograph 44 of 134 contained in Volume 2 of Costanza Hulton's personal photograph albums (1901 - 1906). The dog in this photograph is Torà who belonged to Edith Teresa Hulton, later Lady Berwick (1890-1972). The context within the album indicates that the photograph was taken by Richard Freer Austin in Mittenwald.
