Summary
A monochrome photograph of William Stokes Hulton (1852–1921) with his eldest daughter Gioconda Mary Hulton (1887-1940) and friends including Major Arfwedsson, Baron Ferdinand Bianchi and his daughter Anne, and Alice Pfeil. In the foreground there are three men who appear to be dancing, with William Hulton at the extreme left when looking at the photo. Behind the men and underneath the arch of a building are three ladies who include Gioconda Hulton at the extreme right when looking at the photo. Written in ink underneath the photograph: 'Willy, Bn Bianchi, Maj. Arfwedsson, Alice Pfeil, Anne, Gioconda' and 'Mogliano Easter Monday 1903 Done By Anne Arfwedsson'. Photograph 23 of 134 contained in Volume 2 of Costanza Hulton's personal photograph albums (1901 - 1906). William Stokes Hulton and Gioconda Mary Hulton were the father and elder sister of Edith Teresa Hulton, later Lady Berwick (1890-1972). Major Arfwedsson was a Swedish cavalry officer whose wife was Baroness Bianchi’s sister. The photograph was taken by his daughter who would normally write her forename as 'Ann'. The 'Anne' who is amongst the subjects in the photo is assumed to be Anne Bianchi the daughter of Baron Bianchi. This photograph was taken on the Bianchi estate in Mogliano Veneto, a town located halfway between Venice and Treviso. See also National Trust Inventory Numbers 610168.25 and 610168.26.
