Summary

A monochrome photograph of a group of seven people, six females and one male. The group includes Costanza (Zina) Hulton (née Mazini) (1863-1939), standing at the left of the group when looking at the photograph and her daughters Edith Teresa Hulton (1890-1972), standing third from left and Gioconda Mary Hulton (1887-1940), sixth from the left and holding a tennis racquet. The other members of the group are identified as Baron Ferdinand Bianchi, holding a cane or walking stick, Baroness Bianchi, Bertha and Anne. All members of the group are wearing hats and two small dogs are visible in the centre of the photograph to the rear of the group who are standing in front of a white building with arches. Written in ink underneath the photograph: 'Mogliano Nov 1901 - Zina, Bn Bianchi, Bim, Bertha, Bss Bianchi, Gio, Anne' and 'done by Bss Salvadori'. Photograph 9 of 134 contained in Volume 2 of Costanza Hulton's personal photograph albums (1901 - 1906). 'Bim' is short for 'Bimbele' the Hulton family nickname for Edith Teresa Hulton. Edith Teresa Hulton became Lady Berwick when she married Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick of Attingham (1877-1947) on 30 June 1919. 'Anne' is Anne Bianchi the daughter of Baron and Baroness Bianchi. Teresa Hulton’s autograph book (Shropshire Archives ref 112/22/8/1/1) shows that the surname of 'Bertha' is Veltheim; she may have been Anne Bianchi’s governess. This photograph was taken by Baroness Salvadori in Mogliano Veneto, a town in the province of Treviso in northern Italy, located halfway between Venice and Treviso, where the Bianchi had an estate.See also National trust Inventory Number 610168.9.
